The SEL55210 offers the reach you need for subjects such as sports and nature. Built-in image stabilization reduces blur when shooting at long range or in low light. Built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization within the lens provides smooth, blur-free photos and videos when shooting handheld. Instead of a standard polygon-shaped lens aperture, this lens features a 7-blade circular aperture for more natural, rounded defocusing, or bokeh. Aspherical lens elements minimize distortion while ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements provide superior contrast, resolution, and color fidelity.
The internal focusing mechanism means the lens barrel doesn’t move, enabling a more compact design, faster autofocus response, and reduced minimum focusing distances. Designed for APS-C-format cameras, this 55-210mm lens perfectly complements many kit zooms by providing an 82.5-315mm equivalent focal length range for telephoto applications. A variable f/4.5-6.3 maximum aperture helps keep overall lens size and weight to a minimum. An internal focus mechanism contributes to faster, more responsive autofocus, a minimum focus distance of 3.3', and easier handling as the lens does not change in length during use.
Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shakes for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can be combined with a select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur. A variable f/4.5-6.3 maximum aperture helps keep overall lens size and weight to a minimum.
